Muttly Monday (however posted on Tuesday)

Well oh well, what an interesting past few days it has been.  It is really unfortunate that bad things sometimes have to happen to have a new outlook on life.  On Nov. 18 I helped to organize a Little Black Dress party at a local restaurant/bar.  With the help of a few other girls the event was planned with almost 30 different donated auction items.  It was a huge success.  Still waiting to hear back on the numbers but it looked to be a great success!!  I would post some pictures however two low life girls stole my purse.  My purse was on the bar about 12 inches from me and they pushed their way towards the bar and took off with it. I knew immediately there was something strange about them and when I looked I knew why.  We called the police and watched the surveillance video and sure enough...just as I said.  I have had to cancel my credit, debit and our YPO Credit cards.  I will have to get a new id.  I have changed the locks to my house (am hoping they don't steal my car), need to replace my phone, and camera.  All in all it will be about $300.  And what really bothers me is that I know they saw I had no cash and just threw the rest in the trashcan.  I just feel like it is a complete invasion of my privacy in addition to bring back old memories and just wondering if someone will just show up at my house one day.

The remainder of my weekend was good. My BESTEST neighbors had a birthday party which DSS came was also invited and attended with me.  She made a cute little cupcake cake that she said "was the best yet"!

Sunday was LAZY DAYS in PJ's!!

I am trying to catch up with the Detective for my case as I have since met with the security people at the local bar where my purse was stolen (I have obviously written this post over a few days).  They have the two girls on camera taking my purse...but better yet, using what we believe and hope is her credit/debit card.  Because it was not mine!  The Detective was complimentary of my sleuth skills and is going to pick up that information today!  Fingers crossed he can catch her and punish her!

Wowzers!!

A LOT has happened since my last post!  I hosted a "pre Halloween" small gathering at my house. Halloween was AWESOME!  Had a great time with my friends and such.  Doc met me out later and we had a great time hanging out.  We spent the next afternoon together looking for sofa's (for him) and had a nice lunch at a local Thai place (I LOVE THAI!!). Since Halloween we have hung out a few times and I'm just on the fence. He seems really interested in me and came to meet my friends at a recent "Don't Fall Down before we Fall Back" party and most all of my favs.  He has met my friends in different stages and still wants to hang out. But I am not sure if it is his schedule, or if he is trying to juggle too many "dates" or if he is a dating retard.  He does things like makes plans, but then had a family emergency arise and then I didn't hear from him at all until MUCH later in the evening.  Then is super concerned that I am mad at him and what he can do to make me not mad.  The Cheerleader seems to think that he is just a dating retard and that it does not sound like he is trying to be a man whore...WHO KNOWS!!  I am honestly keeping my options open however; disappointed when things fall through with him or when I don't hear from him.  I am definitely NOT sitting around waiting for him to do...I AM SCHEDULED OUT until Sunday when I consider it my time!!

I have been on a few other dates.  I went out with the Professor, who was interesting, but I just don't think my type.  And I have gone out with another young man.  But as luck has it, he also has a schedule that does not permit him being available during the week to hang out as he is often not in town at all.  Story of my Life!!

So I reverted back to the Ol Internet Dating Pool to see what new and interesting prospects await my attention...OH MY GOSH... I think it just keeps getting worse!!  If the guys are not hugged up on some other chicks in their profile picture, they are doing stupid things like: striking a GQ pose by a car (or truck I am not discriminating); kissing babies; holding up some sort of dead animal that they are proud of ranging from dead fish to dead deer, and bear.  I will say the all time favorite is the guys posing with their shirt off in their bathroom mirror.  These profile pictures say to me, this is NOT my car, but I wish it was. Yeah!!  I can procreate.  Look at me I am manly and can put food on the table (only if the woman prepares it and brings it to my lazyboy while I drink beer and watch Nascar). Or I have nothing better to do than work out and I have no friends to take pictures of me so I do it myself in the bathroom.  None of the above are what I am interested in dating unfortunately so I am at a standstill!!

Last weekend DSS and I went to see Charlotte!  We had a great weekend and danced, laughed, and hung out with new people.  Of course we always make friends along the way!  We watched the Hokies win against UNC at a place called Blackfinn and had a great time!

My babies went to stay with the Ex and apparently had a great time.  But there is concern on the horizon.  There is some signs of diabetes with Daisy, so she has an appointment Friday with the Vet.  Fingers and toes crossed she is ok!!

This month is always particularly difficult for me.  It was the month my father was always the sickest, the month of his birthday as well as the month of his passing.  Yesterday was his birthday.  He would have been 60 years old.  It made me reflect on how my life has changed a lot in three years....I lost my father, six months later my sister (best friend) moved 5+ hours from me and in that same month my ex (my other bff) and I broke up.  It has been tough to swallow, and I still struggle with it.  But Cheers to my life, my friends, my family both those here and not!  I love you all!!

Now I am off to work on yet another event that is two days away!  I will be wearing a hot little dress that DSS says I can pull off (I am a skeptic) and maybe meet a nice man that is not from the Internet pool!!

Tow up Thursday!

Well it is that time again to prepare for the weekend...and this weekend is HALLOWEEN of course.  So today's post name comes to me for several reasons....

I have a person who covers after hours and writes notes nightly regarding the updates on the people we are working with.  This note was regarding one of our residents apartments being a mess.  Read beneath the heart....

Apartment is TOW UP!! I love my job, it makes me realize how fortunate I am to have the people I have in my life and to have had the opportunities I have had.  And not to say I have lots of money or anything, but am fortunate in many other ways.  Like the other day when I was helping someone study for his drivers exam and he asked "What makes you a better driver? If you can make quick reactions or have sound judgement?" I asked him what he thought the answer was and he said "quick reactions".  So after a quick discussion and a drawn scenario I said that having sound judgement was better, his response was "oh so you have to be a good listener to be a good driver".  As a little background I work with adults who are slow learners and did not have have the support that I had growing up and need a little more help.

Every morning I talk with DSS on our way to work. This morning after we hung up the phone I looked out my window at work and saw one motorized wheel chair being towed by another.  It just made me chuckle.  I mean what is one to do if your chair breaks down while you are out and about?? OF COURSE...call your friend for a tow.

So my dating web site seems to be giving me more options than I had previously.  I tried this on line dating thing two years ago and had the worst luck!  I think this time I am a little more open to the possibilities.  Not that I am lowering my standards for what I want, but being more open and realizing that looks are important, but not everything.  So I am still receiving messages from Bob the Builder as well as Doc.  My most recent match has been with the Professor.  He is from Greece and is a Professor locally, and just moved here a month ago!  He is going to Singapore here in a week or so and said..."did you know...you cannot chew gum in Singapore".  The City is known to be the cleanest city in the world.  They banned chewing gum as people were leaving their gum everywhere.  It was unsightly but also was causing delays with their mass transit trains as gum would get in the tracks of the doors and could not close hence causing train delays and costly repairs.  IF caught chewing gum and its you first offense you can face fines from $500-$1000 US dollars AND have to clean public places which is often televised. You learn something new everyday!

Last night was monthly Bunko with the girls.  Always a good time, the group changes often with of course the standard girls.  I was neither a winner or a loser meaning I went home with having had good food, wine and good times with my girls.

Have a great weekend!!

Mutts up Monday!!

Well this was supposed to be an uneventful and relaxing weekend because I have been on the go a lot lately and I am gearing up for the Halloween Weekend.  It is one of the only holidays where you can dress up and act more ridiculous than a kid because 9 out of 10 times there is alcohol involved!  This year I will be Little Red Riding Hood. This year was the first year that we had an actual Halloween store in our area.  So my costume came from Spirit of Halloween!  It was nice to be able to actually try it on and know which size to buy as opposed to blindly purchasing it off the Internet.  I hope they come back next year! I will not be carrying the basket and need to figure out something for a purse!

Back to the weekend...Thursday night I went out on a date with Doc, whom I met off this web site.  I still continue to hear from Bob the Builder.  He continues to be very apologetic and although he is very nice the distance and the bad taste in my mouth about his drunkenness is a big turn off.  Doc and I met out late as he did not get out of work until late.  The Cheerleader came over after her class and we decided to catch up and drink two bottles of wine. THEN I met up with Doc.  We had a great time and I got home late!  He called all weekend and we wanted to meet up but both had friends in from out of town and our plans were a little up in the air.  Maybe our schedules will permit another date this week !!

It was definitely a full moon weekend  I lost a lot of sleep all surrounding drinking, and for once I was not involved.  I asked my sister "why is it when you stay in you are somehow sucked into more drama than if you went out?"  Her response, albeit insightful, "you just don't remember it when you go out!"  The weekend made me feel sorry for the people that were drinking.  For one person because he is just lame and I cannot believe I dated him.  The other because he has made an unfortunate choice that could possibly mess up his life for a few years and he really is a good person.

Charlotte was in town and about the only time we were able to meet up was on Sunday for breakfast! I miss her bunches!  DSS and I will be going to see her in a few weekends!!  The rest of the afternoon I was like on speed, which was surprising because I had virtually no sleep all weekend!  My house is Clean!  I started out with swapping my winter and summer clothes then moved on to cleaning mini blinds, windows and curtains.  Vacuumed the floors, rugs and ceiling fans.  They did the typical dusting, laundry and changing the sheets!  The girls were tired just watching!

HAPPY MUTT LY MONDAY!!

Post numero uno!!

I have not quite decided how to use my blog, or what exactly to write about.  This week has been very interesting (which most of the time mine seem to be).  Back up to Friday of last week (which is what has prompted me starting a blog).  I joined an on line dating web site a few weeks back and one of the "stories of my life" is I ALWAYS am the girl to meet men that are out of town!  And this web site proved no differently.  I am frequently in Virginia Beach as I have family there and my first "match" is from there as well (which is more than 200 miles from my dating range).  Bob the Builder and I  had dinner, drinks and really enjoyed each other's company the first night.  The next day was a beer festival , which we did not get into because tickets were sold out after less than an hour.  So we spent the afternoon at the Taphouse (local bar) and watched the Va. Tech game (GO HOKIES!!).  Well by 8 o'clock Bob was HAMMERED and seemed to careless if I was leaving.  Now he is upset that he made such an idiot of himself and is begging for a second chance.  It is not that I would not go out with him again however, I am just not sure about the distance AND that he cant have any drinks or is just loaded!

NEXT was the real reason I was in town....To deal with my Grandparents.  They are almost 90 years old and stubborn as the day is long! I took my grandmother to a doctors appointment where we had to fill out the initial medical form.  Typically this form is quite irritating and just long but filling it out with a almost 90 year old.  Quite funny!  "Are you pregnant, nursing, or thinking about becoming pregnant"? "What problems are you experiencing?" Which her answer was funny "Old Age, thats my problem".  And really she is right.  She does not have any major health concerns, she is just old.

THEN it is time to return to work Tuesday...Every morning I get on line and check out the news and wake up.  "Whats this?" My internet connection has been disconnected.  Now about a month ago I contacted Cox Communications because I realized there was a problem with my account.  My bill owed is automatically withdrawn from my account, or so I thought.  The problem was it had not been coming out for what I initially thought 3 months (that is as far back as I can see on line).  WELL...not so much the case.  When I call to get this straightened out it apparently has not come out for 14 months!  Now at $24.99/month I dont notice that.  Well after speaking to 2 supervisors which apparently were scratching their heads at how I had NOT been connected sent me to the "Loyalty Department".  The girl was less than understanding and wanted ALL the money right then or would disconnect my service.  Which is funny because I should have shut my mouth and stayed in the cracks unnoticed.  So she says pay half now and then half of the remaining balance the next month and after 3 months I would be caught up. The better part...SHE will call ME on October 17 for my payment...which when I realized it was on a Sunday I paid via phone on Saturday.  So imagine my response when my service was disconnected! Anyway long story short...COX SUCKS and their cusotmer service reps are idiots.  Do they not have notes on my account of what arrangements were made?  Apparently not.  IF I had another internet provider I could go with I would switch in a second.  But as usual the customer is not right anymore in this day and age and I have learned that no good deed goes unpunished.  I should have kept my mouth shut instead of being honest!!

Yikes it appears I have written a book! Until next time!!
